The twelve-skimmer seems to choose a perch and keeps coming back to hit. I learned to sit close to the perch and photograph it when it lands. More than one dragonfly uses the same perch at different times. It almost seems that they line up to have their picture taken. This is one of my favorite things to do and I feel very blessed to have done it this summer. I use a Sigma 70-300 mm zoom macro lens with a 1.4x teleconverter. I have two large flashes mounted near the front of the lens. I use manual focus. The rig is not well balanced and I mount it on a monopod to help control it. |
