I was walking past the corner of the pond one morning when I saw this butterfly warming itself in the early morning light.  I had not observed one before and was understandably excited about the opportunity to photograph it.  I made four shots from which I chose this one.  

I use a Sigma 70-300 mm zoom macro lens with a 1.4x teleconverter.  I have two large flashes mounted near the front of the lens.  I use manual focus.  The rig is not well balanced and I mount it on a monopod to help control it.
